Abstract
Culture is inherently pluralistic; the coexistence of regional and ethnic variations gives rise to a landscape where “a hundred flowers bloom and a hundred schools contend.” The very charm of culture lies in this multiplicity. Today, the word “animation” instantly evokes Disney, Pixar, Miyazaki, or Tezuka—names that, on closer inspection, all point to American or Japanese studios and creators. Their global appeal is rooted in the distinct Americanness or Japaneseness embedded in their works, for animation is, at its core, a cultural product.
