Abstract
Postmodernist design was born under the influence of postmodernist ideological trends generated by the counterculture movement in post-industrial society, representing a critique and subversion of modernism. This paper examines and interprets the emergence of postmodernist design under the influence of postmodernist cultural ideological trends and the resulting cultural phenomena and artistic characteristics from several perspectives: the mass culture of countercultural ideological trends, the deconstruction of aesthetic depth, historical context and symbolic decoration, and the multiple expressions of symbolic meaning.
