Abstract

This paper introduces the structure and working principle of the inlet ball valves for the Phase II units of Guangzhou Pumped Storage Hydropower Plant, as well as the issues of damage to the upstream and downstream sealing rings since the units were put into operation. The causes of the problems are analyzed from several aspects, including the material and structure of the sealing rings and the daily operating conditions. The paper focuses on the research of sealing selection and the effects after the retrofitting.
